Violet Vargo

Violet is a vibrant 62-year-old residing in Virginia, whose life is a testament to resilience and transformation. After spending 25 years incarcerated in North Carolina, she not only became one of the original artists of the Stitching Stories quilt, a powerful collective expression created during her time there, but also embraced her faith and became a devoted Christian. Serving for 10 years as Chaplain’s Clerk, she found purpose and strength in helping others.

Now a full-time student at Southern New Hampshire University, she is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in English with a focus on Creative Writing, eager to share her unique voice with the world. In addition to her studies, Violet is an intern Peer Recovery Specialist at Mental Health of Virginia, diligently working to complete her certification. She also operates an online boutique, showcasing her love for fashion and crafts. Through her diverse pursuits, Violet exemplifies the power of hope and creativity, inspiring others to embrace their stories and faith.
